The ride was suburban to start and became rural. I had hoped that there would be civil war monuments, but there were none on our route. However, we are staying at a church in Fredericksburg and the leader gave us a description of the civil war battle in the area. Right near our lodging is the headquarters of General Burnside, at an estate call Chatham. From the estate we had a great view of historical Fredericksburg and perspective on the horrific civil war battle.
