Today was another fine day.  It was a cold start at 50 degrees.   Shortly after leaving the campground,  we were flagged down by a local who told us our friends  (fellow cyclists) were at the general store having coffee,  so that is where we ended up.

The theme for the day was crossings.  If you look at the GPS data,  it shows we crossed over a mountain range.   Next we crossed the Appalachian Trail.   Finally,  we crossed into New York state.

Tom and I got to cook tonight.  Each night,  two of us shop, cook and clean up for the group.  Tonight we made Taco Salad,  which went over pretty well.

    Love the photos and the descriptions. Looks like your buddies are sporting new looks with facial hair. Saving every minute to get on the bike I guess. Glad cooking is going well.

    That mountain range does not look like fun. Even the downhill looks scary with those heavy bikes. You are all just amazing! Happy to hear you ended the day with a great taco salad.

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1940336424?share_unique_id=46 Another perfect day cycling in northern Connecticut.   It was a Saturday,  so traffic was light.  We joined the local folks at a cafe for a filling breakfast 20 miles down the road.   It was a good thing, because there was lot of climbing at the end of the 55 mile day. Lots of pretty scenery and friendly folks.  We are 500 miles into the ride so we have a little more credibility when we describe what we are doing.  We are asked pretty often by people we encounter. We are on the 2nd map of the 7.  Our next map takes us into Pennsylvania. I will post a pictures of our route and some of  the scenery from today's ride.

Key Largo, FL

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2105280366?share_unique_id=130 Whew.....what a day yesterday was.  We had nearly 100 miles to cycle.  Fifty of the miles were through cities..... Fort Lauderdale,  Miami Beach,  Miami. We left at 6 AM, thinking that the streetlights in addition to our bike lights would allow us to survive until the sun rose at 7:30.  It had rained heavily before we left and was drizzling as we hit the road.  After a couple hundred if feet we realized that the streetlights were off.  As we later learned, the lights were off to allow the sea turtles to lay their eggs.  That made the first hour and a half very challenging. We powered through the day with very few and very short breaks.  Most of the ride was urban.  We finally escaped the city at mile 70 and were on the road to the Key's through the Everglades.  We got rained on pretty hard on the way,  but we finally made it by about,  3 pm,  which was our best case pre-ride estimate.
