Today we woke up to a foggy morning, with dew covered tents.  After a short ride, the sun came out and it was a perfect day to ride.  By mid afternoon,  we found ourselves cycling in the rain, only to have that pass and for me to be sitting in camp in the sunlight with a nice low humidity breeze.   Certainly an odd weather day.

What the weather lacked in consistency,  the scenery was quite the opposite.  It was all beautiful.  Almost the entire ride today was through the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area.  It was a 40 mile network of low use (and variable condition roads) along the wilderness of the Delaware River.   We probably saw more canoes on the river, maybe 10, than cars all day in the rec area.  There were no stores, restaurants,  gas stations or services of any kind until we crossed over the river near the end of the day.

I got a  picture of Tom and Rob crossings over the river on part of the Appalachian Trail that shows the divide be tween New Jersey and Pennsylvania. 

PA is our 8th state on the trip.

    You guys are cycing through those states like shit through a goose. Well, may be not quite that fast. According to Wikipedia, a goose shits every 17 minutes.

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1940336424?share_unique_id=46 Another perfect day cycling in northern Connecticut.   It was a Saturday,  so traffic was light.  We joined the local folks at a cafe for a filling breakfast 20 miles down the road.   It was a good thing, because there was lot of climbing at the end of the 55 mile day. Lots of pretty scenery and friendly folks.  We are 500 miles into the ride so we have a little more credibility when we describe what we are doing.  We are asked pretty often by people we encounter. We are on the 2nd map of the 7.  Our next map takes us into Pennsylvania. I will post a pictures of our route and some of  the scenery from today's ride.

Montague, NJ

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1948392624?share_unique_id=56 Today was a quick and easy 26 miles.  Since this is a 10 day stretch of riding says, today is essentially a rest day. Highlights of the day were the rolling hills and crossing into New Jersey.   We are making a big swing around New York city.   It showed a bit in the aggression of the drivers.   I was cut off twice in the first 5 miles.  Nothing serious or dangerous,  just  not the friendly courtesy from drivers  which we have come to expect. I have a couple of pictures of the countryside.   Nothing to dramatic on the short ride.

Woodbine, GA

We had a fun ride through south Georgia today.   We crossed a bridge and I got high enough to get a view of the terrain.  It is flat as a pancake, with lots of swamps and tidal rivers.  We had a wonderful 15 mph tailwind which made the pedals very easy to turn.  We have begin to see signs of wind damage from Irene.   I got a  picture of our shopping ritual.  The store was about 10 miles from camp, so we all meet to help carry groceries.   I am sure it is quite the sight in these small rural towns to have 10 lycra clad cyclists and loaded bike show up at the local IGA. Tomorrow we enter Florida.   Our last of 13 states on this journey.
