Lots of pretty scenery and friendly folks.  We are 500 miles into the ride so we have a little more credibility when we describe what we are doing.  We are asked pretty often by people we encounter. We are on the 2nd map of the 7.  Our next map takes us into Pennsylvania. I will post a pictures of our route and some of  the scenery from today's ride.

It was a big day today, two new states and lots of climbing.  Rural Massachusetts,  Rhode Island and Connecticut were all beautiful, but hilly.  We rolled up and down beautiful county lanes,  lined with huge stone fences and regal homes. We did climb over 3,500 feet, which is a lot on a fully loaded bike.  I have pictures of the countryside,  our state boarder crossings and campsite. We have had great weather and the forecast looks good.   Hard to belive that we left  home two weeks ago today.

Boston to Manchaug, MA

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1936616876?share_unique_id=42 We had a great day off in Boston yesterday.   Although I found it quite easy to stay off the bike, there was a lot of walking.   We did the Freedom Trail, saw a movie, went to REI and went out to Chinatown for dinner.   It was very relaxing and it was not cycling. Today we navigated our way out of the city onto beautiful New England roads.  We saw deer and turkeys and has a snack at a county store that reminded me of Brennan's at home. I took a picture of the Charles river, which we crossed 4 times and one of the trails we cycled.

Littleton to Boston, MA

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1932470720?share_unique_id=40 Today we cycled from Littleton to Boston.  We look our time and enjoyed the sites.   If you look at the GPS data and see some backtracking, we were either seeing setting or lost. We spend a lot of time learning about the revolutionary war battles of Lexington and Concord.   We chose to take the route that followed the march of the British in and out during that fateful day in April 1775. We tried to imagine the courage of the soldiers involved in the battle. We got into Boston at a little after 3 pm.  We are spending 2 nights in a very nice hostel.  We have been very close camping in close proximity.   We are even closer now with 6 of us in a dorm room.  I will make sure that I have my ear plugs ready. I have a few pictures today.....  One is of Rob Knoelke sporting a new hairdo.   I have one of me in a revolutionary war costume  (Rob took th...

Exeter, NH to Littleton, MA

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1930277415?share_unique_id=38 We had another interesting day in New England.   We cycled 61 miles and crossed into Massachusetts.   The rolling hills were populated by old farm houses and were beautiful to see from the seat of a bike. As luck would have it, we missed a turn and ended up in downtown Derry,  NH.   If I remember correctly,  it was the site of several Steven King novels.  We ended up in old fashioned diner and had a wonderful "second breakfast." Down the road several hours, I was swapping text messages with Julie.  We were at a stop eating and she made the mistake of asking what was for lunch.  I will post a picture  (not exactly health food). Today was our 7th day in a row of cycling.   Tomorrow we head into Boston  (30 miles) and have a day off the bike on Wednesday.   I think all of my companions and certainly my backside are looking forward...

Wells, Maine to Exeter, New Hampshire

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1928202937?share_unique_id=3 I hate to be redundant, but today was another excellent day on the road. We started south out of Wells (the oldest town in Maine), with the Atlantic Ocean on our left. It was strangely reminiscent of the second day of the Scenic Shore 150 that we have done for 9 years. It was a quiet Sunday morning like the SS 150, but instead of North, we headed South today. Instead of Lake Michigan, today it was the Atlantic Ocean. The winds were light and the pace was quick. We were applauded at the crest of one hill by someone who appreciated cycling. He asked where we were going and we were proud to responded "Key West" in unison. We snapped a few partial group pictures after we rode over the draw bridge that separated Maine and New Hampshire. Officially, I have been to all 50 states, but all I recall about New Hampshire was driving through on the interstate. Today we were treated to beautiful countryside and old...

Standish to Wells, Maine

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1925796056?share_unique_id=32 Today we had a quick ride.  It was short, not a lot of elevation,  with good winds and no rain.  It was not an eventful day and seems to be like a rest day.  Time to rest tired legs and dry out. It was overcast this morning, so no pictures along the way.  I have a few of camp and the drying out process.
